Juries and Guests

The Grand Jury will award the Minister of Culture of the Czech Republic Award for the best film and the Best Director Award. The Grand Jury members are: Anders Østergaard (Denmark), Dariusz Kowalski (Poland), Linda Jablonská (Czech Republic) a Masha Novikova (Russia).
 
The Václav Havel Special Award for the film with the most significant contribution to human rights awareness will be presented by former President Václav Havel. The jury members are Helena Dluhošová, Šimon Pánek and Martin Vidlák.
 
The Rudolf Vrba Award is given to the best film in the Right to Know category. This year’s jury members are courageous and charismatic individuals who have personally fought against human rights violations. The jury members are: Brigitte Dufour (Belgium), Tolekan Ismailova (Kyrgyzstan), Ko Maung (Burma), Maria Sereda (Russia) and Li Xiongbing (China).
 
The Czech Radio Award is presented for the best use of sound or music in a festival documentary. According to tradition, the jury is comprised of longstanding Czech Radio staffers Karel Fisl, Vlastimil Hankus and Jiří Hubička.
 
The Student Jury is comprised of secondary school students. They decide on the best film from the films selected for students’ screenings. The jury, which is predominantly made up of One World film club organisers, chooses one of six films focused on a topical theme in today’s world. The following students are this year’s jury members: Daniel Přikryl, Jana Karasová, Klára Trsková a Pavel Bicek.
 
As is now traditional, the VŠEM Audience Award will be presented to the best film chosen directly by the votes of festival-goers.
