Benefit Concert for Slovakia

This year, the One World International Human Rights Film Festival will focus on Slovakia, a country that is quite literally changing before our eyes under the leadership of Robert Fico. In the cultural sphere, purges and mass layoffs are taking place, the Minister of Culture advocates solely for national culture, and homophobic sentiments are on the rise. Socio-political changes are having a devastating impact—not only on culture but also on civil society. That is why we have decided to organise a benefit concert ahead of the festival, with proceeds going to the Otvorená kultúra platform, which organises petitions, strikes, and unites Slovaks who disagree with the country’s shift in orientation towards the East.

On Thursday evening, Bike Jesus will host some of the most intriguing names from the Slovak and Czech rap scene. The established figures of Slovak alternative rap, Edúv Syn and Žakhelés, need no introduction. These Slovak rap matadors, now based in Prague, will be followed by the SoundCloud rap collective THC Luna G and rapper Eyz, who addresses themes of mental health and uncertainty in today’s fast-paced world through her lyrics.

With the purchase of a ticket, each attendee will receive two additional tickets for any screening at the One World festival.
