The film, shot near Barcelona where flocks of sheep graze in flowering meadows next to a hypermodern laboratory carrying out Covid vaccine research, explores the question of what a healthy relationship between humans and nature should be like.
“It’s like we’re in the Stone Age and they’re in outer space,” say shepherds about the presence of the top scientists just beyond their farms. Even though microbiology depends on a supply of animals for vaccine testing, unlike the busy laboratories that humanity focused on during Covid, their profession is on the verge of extinction. Herds of goats, sheep and pigs are driven through the sterile corridors of the labs, unaware that they’ll never make it out alive. The film tells the story of the relationship between humans, animals and science in post-pandemic times.
