Man with concerned expression on a city street.

Son of the Mullah

(Son of the Mullah)

Born into the family of a high-ranking Islamic scholar soon after the start of the Iranian revolution, in his youth he associated with top representatives of Iran's radical Islamic government. Yet he eventually found himself on the other side of the barricades – among the regime’s most vocal critics.

Ruhollah Zam began seeking the truth and became a journalist whose sources include influential Iranian businessmen and politicians, which makes his revelations extremely dangerous for the Iranian government. Since all Iranian media are government-controlled, the only way to work independently is in exile. But for Ruhollah, even life far from home is unsafe. Constantly escorted by bodyguards, threatened by kidnapping and death, he tirelessly uncovers the vulnerabilities of the Iranian regime, which is corrupt and tramples on human rights. The lives of his colleagues are also at risk. Who can one really trust in this high-stakes game?
