Summer Qamp

(Summer Qamp)

A camp in Alberta, Canada, becomes an annual retreat for queer, non-binary and trans teens. To the sound of rustling pines and crackling fires, the local community forms a safe space for sharing.

For some, it’s their first time, while others return to Camp fYrefly every summer in an effort to sort out their thoughts and meet like-minded young people. At a safe distance from society and the political skirmishes over gender identity, the film follows a diverse group of teenagers as they try to find their place in the world. By gradually opening up sensitive topics such as transitioning and coming out, it offers viewers a glimpse into the inner core of the protagonists as they defend their right to exist in a conservative society.
