Hong Kong Mixtape

(Hong Kong Mixtape)

How is it possible to stay creative in spite of the regime? The film delves deep into the artistic underground – a space of political and personal protest through the works of the local creative community.

China is introducing a new national security law aiming to eradicate certain words, books, images and songs from Hong Kong. The film follows the lives of those who decide to oppose this authoritarian order. Activism is reflected in the work of fine artists, rappers, illustrators, stunt groups, as well as the filmmaker herself. In the film, the young director’s personal testimony is interspersed with her artistic work, presenting a unique account of everyday life on the edge of the law, and the activities of the local creative resistance movement.
