(Sorry/Not Sorry)

In 2017, a New York Times article accused influential comedian Louis C.K. of a series of sexual assaults. But instead of leading to the necessary legal action, the testimonies provided material for other stand-up comedians, while Louis C.K. returned to the scene unpunished.

The global #MeToo movement has become a platform for opening up about sexual harassment and violence. When several female comedians testified against Louis C.K., for a while it looked as if his career would sink under the weight of the evidence. But in the world of showbusiness, it’s not justice that decides, but the audience. And so 9 months after the accusations C.K. shows up on stage – and wins the Best Comedy Performance Grammy with his new show. In response to this bad joke, a movement is forming of female comedians who have decided to leave the film industry because they don’t want to share this space with someone who fails to respect them or their rights.
