Long-time friends Rakesh and Ganesh are fishermen. While one tries to preserve the traditional practices of his ancestors, the other is driven by visions of high profit paying no regard to the law or ecological ethics.
Money or friendship? Tradition or modern technology? A glimpse into the daily lives of two Indian households, whose survival depends on the number of fish they catch, shows a multitude of contradictions. Rakesh’s sense of injustice grows as the economic gap between the two families widens. His profits are dwindling, he’s losing employees, and on top of all that he’s fighting for his son’s life. Despite everything, he persistently rejects Ganesh’s offers to purchase environmentally harmful and illegal LED technology, which could provide him with the money needed to treat his sick son.
