Venezuela was already in a political and socioeconomic crisis under Hugo Chávez, and the situation deteriorated further after Nicolás Maduro assumed office. A massive increase in crime, poverty, and deaths followed. The health and educational systems are collapsing. Over 7 million people have chosen to emigrate. The film tracks two determined single mothers over two months as they continue to search for ways to survive in the ravaged country. Carolina had to send her daughter to a children’s home to protect her against the ubiquitous violence. In the past, Kiara earned a living as a prostitute and by selling drugs. Now she anxiously follows the actions of her oldest son, who has joined a local gang.
