The Wolves Always Come at Night

(The Wolves Always Come at Night)

Daava and his wife Zaya watch over herds of horses, sheep and goats roaming the rugged central Mongolian steppes. Herding is their livelihood source, but the increasingly extreme weather complicates survival in the harsh region.

Humans are affected by natural forces as much as animals. Herders’ lives are ruled by the rhythm of the seasons. They spend nights under the stars and witness the birth of each newborn. When the changing climate begins to push the herds and herding communities to the brink of survival, Daava and Zaya consider moving to the city. This means a major lifestyle change and new, unknown dangers. Breaking away from the natural environment with which they are deeply connected is not easy.
