One World Festival for the first time in Šumperk

The International Human Rights Film Festival has been running for more than a quarter of a century and this year it will take place in Šumperk for the first time. You can look forward to it from 20.–23. March 2024. All screenings will take place in the Oko cinema in Šumperk.

The festival annually presents Czech and foreign documentaries about human rights and human rights violations. It brings authentic stories and new perspectives on the subject. In the past, the festival has focused on racism, ecology, equality, poverty, totalitarianism, bullying and digital technologies.

In previous years, the festival has only shown documentaries. This year, for the first time, it also included fiction films with human rights themes for an even more intense and better screening experience.

"Both documentaries and fiction can move audiences to action by showing important topics that should be discussed. At the same time, the trend within documentaries is to use fiction and fiction techniques to amplify the effect that films have on the viewer." Comments Ondřej Kamenický, festival director.

After each film, we will have a post-film debate with guests who understand the topic and whom you will of course be able to ask questions about what you are interested in.

This year we are expecting a lot of interesting films and documentaries with different issues and we will publish the specific titles of the films with their short descriptions soon.
