Havel Speaking, Can You Hear Me?
Unpublished footage from the last 3 years of Václav Havel’s life in a personal portrait of the ageing ex-president who always put the public interest above his own.
When Saša Uhlová tried poorly rated jobs in the Czech Republic in 2017, she learned that economic migrants from abroad were facing the worst conditions of all. In this continuation of her project, she finds herself in their position as she works on a German farm, in an Irish hotel, or in elderly care in France. A cheap and replaceable worker in the eyes of her employers, she keeps a diary and records everything on a hidden camera. But the overworked journalist is running out of strength: she would rather be at home with her family, just like her co-workers. The film delivers a personal testimony of economic inequality and the high price of Western prosperity.
