Short documentary
My Brother Is Deaf
One’s hair is curly, the other’s straight. Aged 5 and 2, they are brothers who play together and romp around like everyone else. But instead of talking they communicate using sign language.
Nastya’s Kyiv-based team is training for the national championships when Russia invades Ukraine and war starts. Her family sends her and her grandmother to Germany to keep them safe. As Nastya’s forced separation from her family and friends in a foreign country goes on, her sadness increases. The only thing that can cheer her up is gymnastics. “When I was training, it was like falling into another world,” she says, gradually growing aware of what is truly important to her in this difficult life situation.
