All Men Become Brothers
For many, Alexander Dubček symbolises the Prague Spring. This humorous film mosaic dissects the image of the admired statesman and tries to understand the man behind the myth.
The participants featured in the documentary have experienced abuse of all kinds since childhood. Upon an invitation from Czech Television, they now meet in a TV studio. This therapeutic safe space gives them the courage to share their emotions and experiences of body shaming. For a while they feel as if they don’t have to hide anything, please anyone, or look a certain way. They talk openly about non-acceptance, bullying, obsession with food and weight, or scars on the body and soul. Others have long reduced their identity to a few hurtful phrases, but now the protagonists are able to add context to these words and combat their power by telling their own stories.
