The opening ceremony of the 27th International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival One World will take place on March 12th, 2025. On that occasion, the awarding of Homo Homini will take place.

Alongside Nigerian journalist Philip Obaji, Ukrainian journalist Viktoriia Roshchyna will receive the award. Viktoriia traveled to Russian-occupied territories to produce a report, however, she disappeared in August 2023. Only in October 2024 did her father recieve a letter from the Russians stating that Vika had died.

To mark the award of the Homo Homini to Ukrainian journalist Viktoriia Roschyna, the festival presents a special screening of Vika's Last Assignment. The documentary traces Viktoriia's path, reveals the conditions of her imprisonment and draws on the direct testimonies of those who saw or interacted with her. These findings serve as evidence of previously unknown crimes committed by the Russians against a young woman who traveled to Russia to fulfill her professional duty and never returned.

Ukrainian journalist and human rights activist Maksym Butkevych, who was imprisoned by Russia between 2022 and 2024, will personally participate in the post-film debate. The discussion will be moderated by René Kočík, coordinator of Human Rights in Ukraine programme of People in Need.

The screening of Vika's Last Assignment will take place on Saturday 15 March at 18:00 in the third hall of the Světozor cinema. There are 48 seats in total. The screening is free and does not require a reservation.
