Muž leží uvnitř provizorního přístřešku, přikrytý plastovou plachtou, má ruce za hlavou a v obličeji klidný, smířený výraz. Okolo něj se nachází rozházené boty, láhev s vodou a další předměty naznačující těžké životní podmínky.

On Sunday, One World will showcase a range of fictional dramas.

In Year of the Widow, part of the Family Webs category, translator Petra has no time to grieve after her husband’s death as the mundane activities of daily life continue to demand her attention. The screenplay for this film is based on the diary entries that Zuzana Pokorná submitted to Respekt magazine shortly following her partner’s death in 2014. Director Veronika Lišková will attend the discussion following the film.

Another film in the Family Webs category is the French drama My Everything. This film features a mother struggling to accept that her 30-year-old autistic son has entered adulthood, fallen in love, and wants to start a family of his own. This film explores themes of motherhood, but also the complex topic of caring for people with disabilities.

In the Male Beings category, the French-Belgian drama The Good Teacher tells the story of a young literature instructor falsely accused of sexual harassment by his female student. The protagonist is sure that the girl is wrong, he is gay after all. However, the public doesn't know this and the protagonist doesn't want to use it as an excuse - he hopes that his status among his colleagues and students is strong enough for them to believe him. However, it is not and the situation gradually spirals out of control until it becomes a national scandal. Based on a true story.

Of course, dramas are not the only films being screened this Sunday, audiences can, of course, expect to find One World’s typical range of captivating documentaries. From Ground Zero, from the Right to Know category, is a mosaic of more than two dozen short clips about daily life in Gaza. It gives viewers a glimpse into the lives of an otherwise dehumanized people and a closer feel for the kinds of suffering they endure.

Finally, the documentary Separated, from the Community Boundaries category, looks at life at the US-Mexico border under Donald Trump’s first presidency. Under the “zero tolerance policy” family members were forcibility separated and incarnated. The film, based on the book Separated: Inside an American Tragedy by journalist Jacob Soboroff, goes behind the bureaucratic scenes and features interviews with key figures in US migration and asylum policy and showcases the background and effects of this heartbreaking and controversial policy.
